Fancy Serial Number Checker
Enter the 8-digit serial number from any U.S. bill to detect fancy patterns and get a rarity score from 0 to 100.
Enter the 8 digits only — no letters or stars
Where is the serial number on my bill?
The serial number is printed in green ink, twice on the front of every U.S. bill — upper-right and lower-left corners.
For this checker, enter only the 8 digits (the numbers between the letter and the star/letter). Skip the prefix letter(s) and the ending letter or star.
Example: If your serial is B 00500000 ★, enter 00500000

How Fancy Serial Numbers Work
Every U.S. bill has an 8-digit serial number. While most are random, some contain special patterns that collectors find valuable. The rarer the pattern, the higher the premium.
A solid serial (all same digit, like 88888888) is the rarest and most valuable, with examples selling for thousands of dollars. Radars (palindromes), repeaters, and low serial numbers are also highly sought after.
What Affects Value?
The value of a fancy serial number depends on several factors:
- Pattern rarity — Solids and perfect ladders command the highest premiums
- Bill condition — Uncirculated notes are worth significantly more
- Denomination — $1 bills with fancy serials are most collected due to accessibility
- Combined features — Star notes + fancy serials, or error notes + fancy serials
